Coalville Wheelers club runs comprise a friendly group of people, who enjoy a social ride around the beautiful country lanes of Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire.

We meet regularly every Saturday and Sunday at 9am (9.30am in the winter) on the Queens Head car park in Heather, or the Clubhouse as follows. We also have club runs most Wednesdays and Fridays, but best to check each week if there’s a ride.

In addition there is a later Family Ride that leaves the Club house every Sunday at 10am.

Queen’s Head pub in Heather at 09.00 (09.30 – winter). The Saturday runs tend to be at a faster pace and not therefore suited for beginners, as they can average around 17-20mph over some 50 miles (ish).

Club house at 09.00 (9:30 – winter). The aim of the Sunday runs is that they are a social ride and we try to keep to a speed and level which is comfortable to everyone. The aim of the group is to give everyone an enjoyable morning out on their bike. We return to the club house or stop at a cafe at around 35 miles for light refreshments before returning home. Our distances aim to be between 40 and 50 miles.Depending on the size and ability of the group, we may be split into 2 groups – fast and intermediate.

We welcome everyone to come and join us but would advise a reasonable level of fitness due to the distances involved. Please make sure your bike is in of a road worthy standard and a helmet is essential.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the first two club rides. After these, an assessment will be made as to the ability of the child to attend future rides without their parent/guardian.

If you wish to come and join us, please e-mail and he will be happy to provide you with more information.

Happy cycling!

It was not possible to secure the Velodrome for 21st April, but we’ve managed to book an alternative date of Sunday 1st April, 9:00 to 11:00.

To secure your place, please let Greg Hodges know and transfer £18 (£13 for under 18) to the club’s bank account, ref “track”. (Message me if you need the bank details) If you need to hire a bike, 🚴🏻‍♂️ please let Greg know, adding £13.80 to your payment. Payment by 2nd March latest please.

You’ll need Look Keo shoe plates for the hire bike. Shoes can be hired if needed.

This is quite an investment for the club to hire the track, so your support for this event would be appreciated.

    Saturday 21st April - 12:00 - 14:00 at Derby Velodrome

Subject the confirmation from the Velodrome, Greg Hodges has booked the track with a coach on the above date for a two hour session for club members; novices and experienced riders.

A great chance to experience the fun and excitement of riding on the track, good speed training in the warm and dry, and to start your accreditation.

We need at least 20 riders to make this viable, so please come along and have some fun.

Senior riders £18, under 18 £13. Hire bikes available at £13.45 for two hours. This is a lot cheaper than booking directly.

Please email Greg if you’re interested in attending on:- or comment below.

Once the date is confirmed, we’ll let you know and collect monies.

Also, Melton Olympic/Leics RC have spaces on their session 31/3 (Easter Saturday) 14:00 - 16:00. Contact Theresa Coltman if interested.
