Matt Sinclair and Lee Tunnicliffe Sneak Win in BDCA 2Up TTT


Coalville Wheelers latest promotion, the B.D.C.A. 30km 2 up Team Time Trial, was won by Matt Sinclair and Lee Tunnicliffe  riding for Team Lutterworth Cycle Centre. They raced through heavy rain showers around 2 laps of the hilly Breedon on the Hill circuit in a time of 44.03 but only won by a narrow margin.  Just five seconds slower were James Perkins and Sean Vincent, representing the Coalville based Team Bottrill, finishing in 44.09 for second place.  In third place was another team from Lutterworth Cycle Centre,  former world track champion Colin Sturgess and Marc Fairclough, who came home in 46.50.  Hinckley Cycle Racing Clubs Mick Wills and Alex Whitehead finished in 48.39 to take fourth placed team and also the prize for the first B.D.C.A. registered team to finish.  The prize for the first mixed male/female team was awarded to the team of Stewart Bates (Notts Clarion ) and Lou Bates (Veloschils Interbike) who were in ninth place overall in 50.02.  Wheelers Sally Maitland teamed up with Ian King (V.C. Long Eaton) and they recorded 56.21 to take second mixed team place.  Third mixed team were Wheelers Rosie Dear and Rob Stephenson with a 57.33 recording.  Coalville Triathlon Club had two teams in the event, Bill Hutchinson and Adam Clarke’s time was 58.11 and Gareth Mcguire and Ian Webster finished with 59.43.

On the next two Saturdays, 12th and 19th March, Coalville Wheelers  have club 10 mile time trials from their clubhouse in Griffydam starting at 2 p.m.  Entries are taken on the day and all riders are welcome.

The clubhouse is also open on Sunday mornings  from 9.30 a.m. for training and family rides when all are welcome and refreshments are available.
