Leicester Cycle Circuit Family Fun Day @ Leicester Cycle Circuit - New College Leicester | England | United Kingdom

A brand new purpose built cycle circuit is nearing completion at New College, New Parks, near Leicester. It’s one km round with changing rooms, toilets and weekend cafe within the adjacent college buildings. Plenty of parking as well.

We’ve booked the circuit to give it a try on Sunday afternoons 25th June and 23rd July from 2pm until 4pm. So chance to race/ride in the morning, wash the car, cut the grass… and then bring your kids / grandkids to the circuit in the afternoon. (Any age, provided they are able to ride their bike safely). Why not bring a picnic, drinks and sun cream, as good weather has also been ordered!

The current plan is to initially let everyone ride round the circuit to get familiar with it, then to alternate between some mini races / skills tests for the kids and whilst they get their breath back, allow the adults the tear into each other with events like the devil take the hindmost (last rider eliminated each lap), points and scratch races. Maybe even a team pursuit. A good chance to try out bunch riding.

All just for fun with no prizes and no race licenses needed.

Names and £5 per family per day or £3 per individual to Alan Vallance or Tracy Symonds. Payment preferred by BACS to our bank account if possible using “Family day – June or July or both” as the reference. Or just hand over the cash when you see us!

Should be a fun afternoon for everyone, so please support this new event and let’s make it a success.

Coalville Wheelers and Coalville Wheelers Swifts had riders competing in the weekends Round 1 of the newly formed (reinstated) Leicestershire Cyclocross League. Neil Taylor competed in the 50's and over category gaining 5th place against some quality riders. Myself and Michael Townend raced in the 40's and over with 12th and 37th. The Swifts had a good outing in the under 9's race, with a win (2nd claim) and a 22nd & 23rd for some budding first time racers. Great racing, a good social gathering, great spectator event and a great introduction to racing for the young ones, what's not to like about cross😀 ... See MoreSee Less

    Message from Steve Heggs....

Once again it's the time of the year when the days get shorter leaving less time to ride in the daylight, so why not come along to the-

Coalville Wheelers Turbo Training Night Commencing Wednesday 4th October 18.45 starting 19.00 hrs. finish approx. 20.00 hrs.

Over the years this has been well supported and now with our new club house and funded Turbo trainers there has never been a better time to try these sessions, so if you are a newcomer or an old hand that needs a little push, give it go! Open to all first and second claim members for £1.00 per session using your own turbo, or £1.50 using the clubs own. There is a structure to each session offering improvement in Power, Speed, Strength and Speed progressing over each week until next March.

Last year it was very well supported by the female members of the club so come on lads let's try and even it up!; and if you are a female that maybe is a little hesitant then please come along and you will be well supported. No accredited instructors I'm afraid, only enthusiastic club members to help and advise!

Hope to see the hard core from last year again plus some new faces, so put a reminder in your phone /diary

    Wednesday 06.45 for 19.00, finishing 20.00 hrs.

Garmin etc. with cadence and a heart rate monitor offers a distinct advantage, so if you own theses please bring them along.

Any questions please contact Steve Heggs
