The Wheelers have in the past been noted for their promotions at club level, within the district and several National events. We still continue to promote a full programme of events throughout the racing season. Over 50 in 2018.

Our Wednesday evening time trial events form the bedrock of the club racing scene with over twenty events from April to early September. A variety of challenges await the experienced rider and the complete novice. The Wednesday night events are run on a variety of courses based around our clubhouse in Griffydam.

We also have a full programme of Friday 10 mile events for those who want yet another test against the watch. Both the Wednesday and Friday events are excellent for the new rider who wants to have a go and glean tips from established riders. There is no need to feel bashful about riding as there is always someone who rides at your speed and the fun is in trying to gain those extra seconds to lead your own peer group. Newcomers are particularly catered for with prizes in the handicap awards (a little too complicated to explain here!).

Note: Anyone from the age of 12 can enter the club time trial events.

When riders find their feet…err pedals…then other races can be tackled. Our Open events attract riders from all over the country in the different disciplines of time-trialling and road racing and together with the other clubs within the area, it means that you can race several times a week once you get the bug.

Members also participate in other types of events as well; Track, Sportives and Audaxes, Mountain Biking, Cyclo-Cross etc. so we can cater for all types of cycling and of course, there’s our bedrock of club runs!

So, feel free to contact one of the club contacts to find out about how you can share in the fun and sense of well being that cycle racing provides.

Once again catering will be provided by PopTop Kitchen, serving a selection of hot and cold food, and in addition this year Café Allez will be providing great coffee to enjoy whilst watching some excellent racing.

Former professional, Gary Coltman has kindly agreed to provide race commentary for this round.

Car Park

There will be a £2 charge for car parking, please bring change.  Unfortunately we need to charge this to cover the hire of the venue and even with this charge we made a loss last year, but none the less decided to put an event on again this year.

To find the car park, follow the Large Yellow signs from Ibstock and J12 of the M42.
