Ladies Road Race Sun 29th April 10:30

On a cold and blustery day, 70 top class ladies started the CWCC Ladies Team Event Road Race, featuring seven laps of the Breedon circuit, a total of 101km. By half way, Claire Steels, the 2016 Ladies Duathlon World Champion (30-34 yrs) was out in front on her own. Despite some activity in the peloton to try and catch her, her lead gradually increased to a maximum of some 2min 20 secs. With one lap to go, the race was virtually won, however a migraine attack, forced Claire to slow down, allowing the peloton to catch her in sight of the finish. A mass sprint ensued with Nicola Juniper (NJC Biemme Echelon) taking victory, just ahead of April Tacey (Team 22) and Charlotte Redden (Cycle Team OnForm). A well deserved special prize was awarded to Claire for the most aggressive rider.

Another successful event promoted by Nick Horner-Maddocks and his team. Well done and thanks to all who helped.
